"Education should be the process of helping everyone to discover his uniqueness, to teach him how to develop that uniqueness, and then to show him how to share it because that's the only reason for having anything."      --Leo Buscaglia

About OHA

Oak Hill Academy was founded in 1965 when a Charter of Incorporation was granted to Clay County Educational Foundation, Inc. by the State of Mississippi. Twenty-two acres of land were donated to the Corporation by Mr. E. E. Tumlinson, and construction of the first classroom building began in 1965.

Over the years, four elementary classroom buildings were constructed to house students in  kindergarten through grade six. Separate junior and senior high school buildings were constructed; a cafeteria, band hall and gymnasium were constructed; and athletic facilities for football, baseball and tennis were also built.

Oak Hill's mission statement clearly sets forth the purpose of the school, and all activities of the school, both academic and athletic, are designed to assure the accomplishment of the school's mission. Oak Hill is a non-sectarian school based on  Christian principles and dedicated to a quality educational program for students, pre-kindergarten through grade twelve. It is committed to the total development of each student who attends, and emphasis is placed on the academic, social, moral, personal and physical development of each student.

The curriculum and instructional programs have been structured to meet the needs of students with a wide range of achievement levels; however, emphasis is placed on preparing students for post-secondary work at major colleges and universities throughout America.

Oak Hill is fully accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and the Mississippi Private School Association. The Clay County Educational Foundation, Inc., is exempt from Federal Income Tax under Section 501(C)(3) of the Internal Revenue Service Code, and gifts to Oak Hill Academy can be used as charitable tax deductions.
