February 1st is the scholarship deadline for most major universities. Make sure you have completed the scholarship resume for the school of your choice and submitted it by this date.
There are literally thousands and thousands of scholarship opportunities available to high school seniors. The scholarship information included in the Oak Hill Academy Senior Handbook is only a small sample of what is available. There are a number of free scholarship web sites that you can take advantage of. You simply fill out an interest profile and they provide you with hundreds of scholarships that meet your needs. Information on two of those websites is enclosed in your senior handbook.
Would you like to get $3000 or maybe $10,000? If so, make sure you apply for MESG or MTAG. MTAG awards $3000 if you have at least a 2.5 GPA and at least a 15 on your ACT. MESG awards $10,000 if you have a 3.5 GPA and at least a 29 on your ACT. All seniors who would like to attend college in Mississippi should apply. You can begin signing up on January 1st but no sooner. We have included, in the Senior Handbook, detailed information that will not only give you the deadline dates to apply, but information that actually explains what these programs are all about. We hope you will find this helpful.
Colleges and universities advertise scholarships on their home pages. What you might not know is that each department also has their own scholarships that are not always advertised. Once you decide where you are going to college call the department you will be majoring in and find out about additional scholarship opportunities. It could be well worth your time.
Once you begin receiving scholarship offers, you must bring copies of your scholarship letters to the counselors' office. We are required to keep accurate records of all scholarship activity.
Good Luck and let us know if we can help you with anything.
