Senior Poem Class
of 2011
By Morgan Sweeney
The morning sun
ignites the sky
With a cry of glorious cheer.
It is the dawn of our new lives;
Summer is finally here.
As we look back, as
we reflect
On our rapturous thirteen years,
We understand that we are made
Of an entire Oak Hill career.
Not just of
work, or just of books,
Of essays or novel or grades,
tBut of
laughter, of teacher's kind words
And the life-long friends we have made.
For an Oak Hill
acorn is never
Merely a student of knowledge,
But of life and love, experienced
And fully prepared for college.
From burning
midnight oil on nights
When writer's block hindered our pen,
To finger painting and naptime
And the joys of kindergarten.
Back then, this
day seemed a lifetime away,
Like a never-ending game of chase;
But we struggled and strived, we
Persevered, and never once slowed our pace.
And now we stand
before you all,
Mature, developed and fully-grown;
The will to succeed planted deep
In our hearts as well as your own.
Farewell Oak
Hill, farewell high school,
We wish you only the best;
We leave you now in confidence--
Inspired, enlightened and blessed.
